What to expect

Start your visit with a short ride aboard the only electric train in Oman which carries you to the cave entrance. Don’t forget to look at the vast mountainside as you approach and imagine what lies within!

Once through the fortified door you will follow the path into the depths of the cave. Count all those stalactites and stalagmites, spot the Chinese cat, the old man and, of course, the famous lion’s head. Keep your eyes peeled for the bats circling overhead and maybe you’ll be brave enough to dip your toes in the dark central lake home to the rare fish.

Our local, knowledgeable guides will make sure you get the very best out of your Al Hoota Cave experience. All tours are offered in English and Arabic languages and last approximately 45 minutes.

To ensure that future generations can enjoy Al Hoota Cave it is essential that its fragile ecosystem is protected. Therefore, a maximum of 750 people can visit the cave each day. During very busy periods it will be essential to book ahead and you must arrive at the ticketing office at least 15 minutes before your allotted time. Please be on time – we would hate you to miss out.
