We have everything to complete your great family day out
The Al Hoota Cave Visitor Centre is an oasis at the foot of Jebel Shams providing all the facilities you need to complete a day in the mountains of Oman. In addition to the marvel of the cave itself visit our geological exhibition, great gift shop, experience our digital tours or enjoy a delicious meal in our restaurant. We have plenty of parking space so that you can take advantage of our well maintained restrooms (with disabled access) and Wifi even if you are not able to participate in a cave tour that day. Why not combine a visit to the cave and visitor centre with a hike in the mountains, a visit to Wadi Tanuf or a morning in Nizwa Souq?
Take some time to relax and enjoy mountain produce in our fabulous family-friendly restaurant. Offering Arabic food and focusing on ingredients grown by the people of Al Hamra, it is the perfect combination of tradition and simplicity.
We are very proud of our gift shop at Al Hoota Cave which houses a range of local Omani handicrafts and cave souvenirs. Located on the ground floor of the Visitor Centre you are sure to find wonderful gifts for friends and family – or maybe for yourself.
We also have a very special photo service which allows you to have your photograph taken against your own chosen cave backdrop. What a great memento of your time in the mountains.
Our expertly curated geological exhibition gives visitors a fascinating insight into the geology of the region and the way the cave was formed.
Learn more about the early geology of Oman from 800 million years ago until recent history; understand the genetic evolution of the blind cave fish; discover how water is responsible for the formation of stalactites, stalagmites and other cave features; see our animal exhibits which include scorpions, Arabian toads, Wadi racer snakes, mouse tail bats, hunting spiders and the unique blind fish.
All visitors start their Al Hoota Cave tour with a short ride on the only electrical train in Oman.
It will carry up to 48 passengers in air conditioned comfort from the visitor centre around the foot of the mountain, into the mountainside itself and up to the cave entrance.
